Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #98!

Spy in the Sky  (Allied Artists Pictures, 1958)

I know nothing about this one - but it looks like a topical thriller made to cash in on the launch of Sputnik in 1957. I would imagine a fair amount of stock footage bumped up against a lot of talky scenes. I would be happy to watch and see if I'm right - given the chance.

Inseminoid  (Almi Cinema 5, 1982)

This flick first came across my radar in an issue of Fangoria - which featured the movie in a big spread chock full of gory photos. I MAY have seen the movie on VHS - so many Alien clones back then, they blur a bit - but I definitely checked it out on DVD a few months ago. I like the movie - it's a little slow, but it's pretty gory and it's got some nostalgia factor working for it now.

The Spirit is Willing  (Paramount Pictures, 1967)

Another supernatural spoof from William Castle - after Zotz! and The Old Dark House - this one eschews the gimmicks and puts a pretty credible cast through a haunted house comedy - but my memory of watching it on the Late Show back in the day is that it's not that great - missing only a canned laugh track to make it a standard issue tepid 60's TV sitcom. That doesn't mean, however, that I wouldn't like to check it out again to make sure.

That's a wrap - til next we meet - you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

  1. Oh. My. God. I am so going to be having nightmares about that Inseminoid poster. It takes me right back to high school when I vomited during the "Miracle of Life" movie. The only girl to ever do so in the history of St. Francis High School, I believe. My teacher could not understand my utter aversion. I have always said that pregnancy should be replaced with test tubes. With this poster, you have hit upon the only thing that grosses me out completely. I've got the chills just looking at the poster. Blech! Yuck!

    1. Wow - I worry about the boobs in the trailer for the Saturday Night at the Movies post - but it's really the second randomly chosen movie poster two days later that sends them scurrying for the exits! Sorry about that Melissa!

  2. Inseminoid looks horrid. I still remember the video covers for that mutant baby movie "It Lives." I just felt a cold chill. Thanks Craig. ;)

  3. Haven't seen any of them, though at least I've seen a couple of flicks of "Inseminoid" director Norman J. Warren ("Bloody New Year", "Satan's Slave"), "Spy in the Sky" director M. Lee Wilder ("Fright"), and William Castle ("Haunted Hill", "I Saw What You Did").
