I love the year 1979. Here's one of the reasons why. |
Michael Baldwin (l) and Bill Thornbury (r) as the Pearson brothers, living alone after the death of their parents in a small town with the Scariest Mortuary of All Time. |
A mortuary run by this guy...the Tall Man (Angus Scrimm). |
Mike finds the Tall Man a little too fervent in drumming up new business. Mike doesn't want to play ball. |
When the Tall Man wants to play ball...RUN. |
The Pearsons' buddy Reggie (Reggie Bannister) plays a 1979 video game. Man, look at the size of that controller! |
The Tall Man reveals his ultimate objective: new sneakers! |
Worst. Alarm. Clock. EVER. |
This is another of my faves, because it starts right out with a mood of dread, and proceeds like a fever dream of scary things, thanks to a solid cast and writer/director Don Coscarelli. Watch this movie, or watch it again!
And with that, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!
I remember when this came out. It looked very, very strange.
ReplyDeleteAnd you know what--30 years hasn't changed that. Not a bit.
