Bruce McGill probably would - but we can't find him right now to ask. Meantime, let's make it this one tonight...
One of the most popular comedies of all time - and a movie that completely deserves its reputation. The National Lampoon humor magazine got into moviemaking in a big way with this flick, which built off college stories by Chris Miller published in the magazine.
It's a great cast led by the late great John Belushi - though his Bluto is really a supporting character - dotted into the movie with just the right frequency and duration. It's full of hilarious set pieces - all of which are shown (and spoiled?) in that way-too-revealing trailer up there and it has dozens of quotable lines of dialogue.
It resides in the video vault on Blu-Ray and it ready to spin - just like a record - anytime - even tonight, if you want to throw on a toga and come on over!
Until next post, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!
Wow, what a blast from the past! I remember receiving a box of old VHS tapes when I was in my teens, and this was in there (along with St Elmo's Fire, Smokey and the Bandit, and other random stuff). I watched this quite a lot back then, but haven't seen it for so many years. I should reunite with it soon.....My toga is on!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure you look fabulous in it! It was a popular VHS item - I don't think there was a video store I visited across five states that didn't have this one on a top shelf in the "A" section!
DeleteStill one of my favorites... I'll be over in a few hours, I'll bring the doritos!
ReplyDeleteYum, Doritos! I'll get the beer - but it'll be American - so you'll think it's like sex in a canoe - f-ing close to water!
DeleteThat always bugged me about the prospects of American beer - do you get much imported stuff instead?
DeleteIt's available - but it's so damned expensive! I have enjoyed many a Killian's Red - but that's probably the crap Irish beer - I have downed a Guinness or three in my time as well. My mainstay - so I can drink more of them - is Bud Light Lime.
DeleteThat's a pity - beer is relatively cheap over here, and it's all quite strong anyway! Never heard of Bud Light Lime, it wasn't released over here, unsurprisingly. I think you need to get in on the home brewing, Craig, I've been at it for a few years now and not only is it great fun but hey! You are making beer!
DeleteHmmmmm, home brewing, eh? An intriguing thought! I have at least one acquaintance - our wives worked together - who is pretty into that - and he has made some tasty brews...
