Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #67!

After several theme weeks - let's get random!

Eaten Alive  (Virgo International Pictures, 1977)

Producer Mardi Rustam produced a wide range of horror movies back in the 70's and 80's. I kind of like this batcrap crazy effort from Tobe Hooper - in which a backwoods loner - the underrated Nevile Brand - running a bayou hotel periodically goes after his guests with a scythe - and has a big crocklegator in the back yard for leftover disposal. With that corker cast listed above - plus a young Robert (Freddy Krueger) Englund in I believe his first role...this is well worth a watch - and if you do check it out - keep in mind the whole thing was done on sets on soundstages!

Dangerous Mission  (RKO Radio Pictures, 1954)

Shot in 1950's 3-D, this pastoral adventure thriller didn't get that much play with the glasses - it played flat more often as it wasn't released until after the heyday of the Third Dimension - and on TV its wide expanses of nature made people wonder if it was produced by some picturesque Western state's tourism department. But it's got an interesting cast - with LGOOH Ultrafave Vincent Price as a finger smashing baddie - I haven't seen it - but I'd watch it in a heartbeat!

The Muthers  (Dimension Pictures, 1976)

Another Filipino-shot women in prison movie - but not by Roger Corman and his cohorts for New World Pictures. It's got some of the usual suspects for this sort of picture in the cast - but this one was helmed by Cirio Santiago - a wild exploitation filmmaker who probably should have been mentioned in this blog some time before this. Another I haven't seen - but only because the opportunity hasn't arisen.

Ah, blessed randomness! Until next post, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

  1. Eaten Alive! LOL. That poster is wild.

When I see Piper Laurie I always think about her evil mother character in Carrie. So TWISTED!!! Love the artwork on the Dangerous Mission poster.

    The Muthers...hilarious title!

    1. I think of Ms. Laurie both as the crazed Momma White and as the shady lumber mill owner from Twin Peaks. Thanks for coming by, Luana!

  2. Ah, Eaten Alive! "My Name is Buck and I'm here to fuck!" Entertaining little Hooper-trashfest, unfortunately still quite underrated. (German title: Blutrausch = Blood Frenzy)

Never heard of the other 2 flicks, but the posters look great!

Dangerous Mission - Blut im Schnee (=Blood In The Snow)
