Saturday Night at the Movies 3/8/14!

Who cares what picture we see?

Frank Gorshin completely would - so we're picking this one -

One of my favorite movies since I was a kid - and it always will be. After the TV series took the country by storm in 1966, they threw this feature together between the first and second seasons. You get four of the series' best villains - with Lee Meriwether a satisfactory Catwoman - though I completely miss Julie Newmar at the same time. They used the feature budget to build the BatCopter and the BatBoat - both of which were then utilized (along with stock footage from the movie) in the series.

That poster up there has a typo - if anyone wants to check for it - and the disc in the video vault is a crisp and colorful Blu-Ray - which we could have spinning anytime - even tonight - if you care to come by!

Until next post, you Can Poke Me With A BatFork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

  1. This is a great TV-to-Movie translation. It doesn't compare with The Dark Knight or Batman (1989) but it perfectly captures the feel of the original show.

  2. Oh, I'll take '66 Batman over The Dark Knight any day. If, when making a Batman movie, your primary goal is some value of "realistic", then you don't understand Batman...
