Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #125!

Paranoia  (Commonwealth United, 1969)

I haven't seen this one - but if it's got Carroll Baker and a "whirlpool of erotic love" - then I'm in!

Creature  (Cardinal IV Film Distributors, 1985)

Oh sure, it's yet another Alien ripoff - but it's kind of a fun Alien ripoff - with some familiar faces in the cast and some cool effects. It is also seemingly in the public domain and consequently able to be found on countless cheapie DVD sets. (By the way, it can't be and isn't really in the public domain - this is just a case where too much partnership setting up the production and company buy-outs in the years since has left the ownership in limbo.)

The Saint Strikes Back  (RKO Radio Pictures, 1939)

I've always enjoyed Leslie Charteris's character - in the books, in the movies, on TV...this is the first go-round for George Sanders in the title role. Interestingly - you have both men who played Mr. Dithers in the long running Blondie movie series from the 30's and 40's - Jonathan Hale started the role, and Jerome Cowan finished it - plus you have 1960s TV Batman's Commissioner Gordon - Neil Hamilton - in there! I love factoids like those!

Until next post, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

  1. Love the artwork on these posters. Haven't seen any of the movies, but are you kidding me? Commissioner Gordon? Oh YEAH! Gotta love that envelope-dagger detail on The Saint Strikes Back. Is the stick figure holding a smoking gun or smoking a cigarette?

  2. I wouldn't mind getting sucked into a "whirlpool of erotic love." Although the poster is slightly less erotic that the movie suggests.

  3. As an erotica writer, I know all about a "whirlpool of erotic love" LOL. I wouldn't mind with say Charlie Hunnam and Hugh Jackman. What's that song..."Naughty, Naughty...Cute and..." well you know. ;D

    1. Yeah, it moves right along and keeps entertaining - even Leonard Maltin gave it a fairly high review!
