Saturday Night at the Movies 2/4/12!

Who cares what picture we see?

Let's suppose for the sake of argument that George Gaynes does - then I think we'd be very, very sorry if we didn't pick this one:

If you were reading this blog last April, you may have seen my "P" post in the A-Z Blogging Challenge. If not, take one guess what it stood for? Or, go take a look at it here. I love this movie series dearly, despite losing a girlfriend the night I took her to see this in the theater the night it premiered. Yep, I was dumped at the classy fast food joint I took her to after the movie. Say...you don't suppose there's a connection...? Nahh, what am I thinking?

Anyway, this one is definitely in the video vault on DVD, and can be our movie of choice to watch, say, tonight! If you decide to come by, that is!

Until next post, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

  1. I LOVE the Police Academy films. To me they are comic genius. Mahoney, Jones, Tackleberry, Hightower and the gang. I watch G.W. Bailey on The Closer all the time.

Sorry you had to get dumped like that, but it's good to know that experience hasn't colored your affection for these awesome films.

  2. Oh, just noticed your pic with Michelle Williams. I so hope she wins. What a talented actress. I have seen literally every film she's been in and I think she gets better and better. Did not know you had worked on Dawson's Creek. My sister and I we loved that show. Watched every ep til the bittersweet end. Big tough me was all teary when Jen died.

  3. I have to corroborate both you and Melissa: I love this movie unconditionally. It provided outstanding laughs during my childhood. In honor of your post, a re-watch is in order :)

  4. MB! Me too! They are one of the last bastions for cinematic silliness of super-epic proportions. I don't watch The Closer - but I'm glad G.W.'s got the job! Yeah, it wasn't fun getting dumped - but you know what? We actually had one last date together a few years later - as college students we took advantage of that thing that you can ALWAYS go to your high school's Homecoming dance - no matter how many years later. We had a really kickass night dancing and laughing, and we parted ways much more convivially than we did previously. She went on to get her doctorate in something - she's done well without me! Amazing, I know, but there you go!

And I do too - she is my favorite of my Dawson's kids - she and I shared more goofy fun than you might imagine - I can't wait to tell the story of how I saw the original I Know What You Did Last Summer - written by Dawson's creator Kevin Williamson - but that's a story for a blog post. However, I saw that movie's sequel one weekend afternoon with Michelle Williams, and oh, how we cackled over how crappy the KW-less Part 2 was. I am also the proud owner of Michelle's official framed Entertainment Weekly cover when she appeared on it with Jamie Lee Curtis promoting Halloween H20 - check your email for a pertinent file download - I haven't gotten the chance to meet Matilda - but I hope we get to one of these days!

Matty! I'm thrilled you enjoy this movie - as it would be a boring world without comedies as goofy as this one! Always good to see you, pal!

  5. Craig: Great movie! I love crazy comedies and this is one of the best. Sorry about the girlfriend. Even if it wasn't her cup of tea, she should at least be open minded enough to "agree to disagree." The best thing about movie dates is going out afterwards and talking about the movie! I love after movie discussions.

  6. Luana - thanks for the kind words - I do too - but we had other things to talk about after that movie...like why she didn't want to see me anymore...*sigh*...but as I commented - we had a new and different "final date" a few years later and parted on much better terms, so it had a happy ending after all! Just like the movies! ;)

  7. Yay for Police Academy! When I was younger, I've seen them all countless times, especially the first 4 parts which are all hilarious.

    I heard there's a remake in pre-production - fuck that shit.
