Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #48!

It's the most wonderful time of the year...

Santa Claus (K. Gordon Murray Productions, 1959)

Wow! If you were a parent in the early 1960's and saw that poster at your local movie house - you'd be all about taking your kids (or dropping them off or letting them go by themselves - it was a very different time) and little know you were going to be subjecting your children to a batcrap crazy dubbed Mexican movie courtesy the amazing K. Gordon Murray. Even better - he kept trotting his aging cinema prints out every year into the 1980's!

Featured Santa:

Jose Elias Moreno

Ernest Saves Christmas  (Touchstone, 1989)

There is a very great affection in my heart for Ernest P. Worrell. And this is one of his best flicks, knowhutImean?

Featured Santa:

Douglas Seale

Santa Claus: The Movie  (TriStar Pictures, 1985)

The Salkinds leave Superman alone for a while and turn to another guy wearing a lot of red. Torpor ensues.

Featured Santa:

David Huddleston

Until next post, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

  1. Ho ho ho! What does a cat get after soaking its paws in bleach? Sanitized claws. Sorry, it's late. Good night!

  2. Oh God, it's that time of year for those sickeningly sweet, cloying Christmas movies that make me want to bleach my brain. Bah Humbug! ;) Christmas Eve is horror film marathon time for me because I get so tired of all the sugar sappiness that I feel the need to take my red in blood. I'll have to let you know what my playlist will be.

  3. Did you hear about the dyslexic Devil worshipper? He sold his soul to Santa.

Great posters and pics. My favorite movie Santa is Edmund Gwenn from Miracle on 34th Street. Love that movie!

  4. Dave - LOL! Nice one! Thanks for coming by - don't be a stranger!

MB - You get cranky around Christmas! ;)

Luana - LOL! Another good one! Miracle is a classic fer sure! I wanted to give this threesome an LGOOH twist - so a Mexican movie with Santa vs Satan; Ernest; and the kind of 80's excess only the Salkinds could produce - Gwenn is a heckuva Santa, though!

  5. Santa and Satan in one movie? Sounds like a Party Rock for me. I prefer my Santa to be either chopping down teens or being chopped at, thank you very much. haha! XD
