Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #39

I found quite a surprise waiting me when I got home Friday and sat down in front of the computer. I opened up a post to work on, and then looked into my usual blog sites I keep up with. It seems one, Melissa's Imaginarium, was participating in the Pay It Forward Blogfest, where three sites are chosen and posted to spread the love for fun blogs. Melissa is a talented author and World Class Movie Fan who could probably kick my tushie at Trivial Pursuit-Horror Movie Edition or Scene It-Scary Movies (if they existed) and the Imaginarium is a great place to visit, as is the cinema blog she regularly contributes to: The Movie 411.

So - guess who got picked as one of Melissa's three blogs?

I want to give a HUGE THANKS  to Melissa Bradley for picking LGOOH for her post - I am honored and thrilled. If you're not already a fan of her terrific blogs - you really should check them out. Another thing - she is a lady who knows her way around some super-steamy romantic fiction and erotica - so if you're so inclined you might want to give her stuff a try - I've read some excerpts myself and I was definitely dabbing some sweat off the ol' brow!

For today's Maniacal Movie Posters - still under the heading of the Halloween Blogfest Blowout - I'm going to pick three horror movie posters I think Melissa Bradley would like...I wonder how I'll do...?

Underworld (Screen Gems, 2003)

Why I chose it: I know Melissa likes badass ladies, and I know she likes werewolves, and this series has both. It was a tossup between this and Resident Evil, and I went with this. (crossing fingers)

The Howling  (Avco Embassy, 1981)

Why I chose it: I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Melissa loves werewolves! And I'm hoping this one is as far up on her list as it is on mine!

Plan 9 from Outer Space  (Distributors Corporation of America, 1959)

Why I chose it: Melissa has a wonderful sense of humor, and she likes the old school horror guys. You have one of those guys (Bela Lugosi) in this - albeit briefly before he is replaced and "doubled" by the director's wife's chiropractor - and I'm thinking she will appreciate the absurdity of Wood's screenwriting coupled with the inanity he brought to the director's chair.

Now I hope Melissa drops by to tell me how I did! I will only count them as truly successful picks if they are actually part of her home video collection - or as I say around here - if they reside in her video vault.

Wish me luck! And until next post, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

  1. You are batting a thousand!!! I love Kate in Underworld, Selene is one badass vampire bitch. And The Howling is my very favorite werewolf movie. I have them in my vaunted DVD collection. Plan 9 is my Ed Wood sentimental fave. It has it's own place of honor in my DVD collection. Ol' Ed certainly had a unique vision.

Thank you very, very much for this distinguished and unique LGOOH tribute this evening. I am touched beyond words. You rock and I will be rewatching Plan 9 and TheHowling in your honor next weekend. ;)
