The Video Vault of Mora Tau! 8/3/11

I featured The Valley of Gwangi in the Maniacal Movie Poster Monday entry this week, and I talked about a certain sequence in the movie, and the incredible artistry and skill of visual effects genius Ray Harryhausen to make it happen. So, I thought, instead of just talking about it, let's take a trip into the Video Vault of Mora Tau and show you both the original sequence, and a behind the scenes featurette that explains some of the intricacies that went into filming it. It's a little longer than the average VVoMT post, but the total running time is still less than 15 minutes.

If you've never seen the whole movie and want to, you might want to skip these as they feature a lot of footage from the movie, that while not exactly spoiler-laden, will certainly lessen the impact of seeing them for the first time in the actual movie.

First, the sequence direct from the flick:

And here's the behind the scenes short - the lassoing scene is discussed roughly in the middle.

Wow! Harryhausen boggles my mind!

And until next post, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!
