Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #174!

Under Cover  (The Cannon Group. 1987)

Wonderfully silly Cannon flick with the same setup as 21 Jump Street - and look at that guy's hairline!

Equalizer 2000   (Concorde, 1987)

The always mazing Cirio H. Santiago directed yet another late in coming Mad Max ripoff with Richard Norton carrying a gun with about twenty nine barrels. And look at young Robert Patrick a few years before he was the T-1000!

Frightmare  (Saturn International, 1983)

Kind of a ripoff of Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things - here the teens dig up their favorite dead horror movie star - and that makes the old guy very angry. I saw this a thousand years ago - I seem to remember liking it?

Until next post, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

  1. Craig, some excellent stuff there - somehow all three of these seem to have slipped past me? My 'to watch' list grows with every post...

  2. I remember a TV show in the 70s or 80s called The Equalizer. A middle-aged, well-dressed, British gentlemen kicked butt and took names. Not anything like the guy on this poster! LOL

    1. That was the great Edward Woodward - worked with him - great guy. Feature film version due out soon with Denzel Washington (!) I might have preferred him in a remake of that one up above! LOL

  3. Yeah, fantastic stuff Craig... that Undercover poster is hilarious - Jenifer Jason Leigh might swing it, but there's no way her leading man would pass as a high school kid. I just checked out the trailer and it actually looks like a pretty decent, watchable thriller... The Equalizer 2000 poster features so much ACTION!!! it might explode at any minute. Depending on your taste for trash you'll either be foaming at the mouth to seek this out or give it a wide berth, personally the trailer was enough excitement for me. This one looks like it was shot in a dusty nondescript quarry and despite me thinking this was Italian (á la Fists of Steel), it seems to be a US-Philippine production... At first couldn't locate a trailer for Frightmare, one promising lead wound up being a clip of the great Pete Walker film of the same name, but a little perseverance paid off and I found a lo-fi preview under the title of The Horror Star - dreadful title. I can see the Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things analogy right there but this one looks like a bit of a dud. Fantastic looking poster though, reminds me of the poster for Squirm with a touch of Evil Dead and could easily be an old school metal record sleeve...

    1. I can totally see that with the Frightmare poster - I miss some of those great old heavy metal record sleeves in the old record stores. If this post prompts you to check any or all out - I look forward to reading your reactions over at Plutonium Shores! Thanks for coming by and commenting!

  4. Craig, I was a big death metaller in the early 90's so I miss those old LP covers too - there was some really fantastic art came out of the DM scene - I'm thinking of the British artist Dan Seagrave and his brilliant art for Entombed's Left Hand Path or Suffocation's Effigy of the Forgotten, to name just two great examples...

    1. It was my favorite section of the record store to look at - with the hints of Satanism and crossover horror elements - very spooky sometimes!
