Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #148!
Six Pack Annie (American International Pictures, 1975)
I don't even know what it's about - but it's got Lindsay Bloom heading a cast with people like Ray Danton, Sid Melton, Louisa Moritz, Doodles Weaver, and Stubby Kaye - it's rated R, and American International released it - of course I want to see it!
The Godsend (Cannon Film Distributors, 1980)
I saw this one on Showtime back in the early 80's - don't remember much about it, to be honest. Consequently I would like to see it again...wonder if it's in the video vault?
The Manson Massacre (Duffy Films, 1971)
This one was made in 1971 as The Cult, then re-released under this title in the mid 70's after the popular TV movie version Helter Skelter had aired, hence the "Guaranteed never to be shown on T.V." blurb. I haven't seen it - but they made good hippie horror flicks in the early 70's sometimes...

Saturday Night at the Movies 12/28/13!
Who cares what picture we see?
I am completely sure that Barry Nelson would - so let's pick this:
The movie that singlehandedly set off the Disaster Movie Cycle of the 1970's - this prototype flick wraps a lot of drama and maybe even some soap opera around the disaster - but it's a corker movie - with an "All Star Cast!"
Burt Lancaster and Dean Martin are very good - especially as they're at odds instead of playing pals - and the rest of the cast is fine - but the clear standout is George Kennedy - who made such an impression as Joe Patroni he becomes the only returning character in all of the sequels!
I have this one on DVD - and it's ready for takeoff at any time - even tonight - if you felt like flying by!

Saturday Night at the Movies 12/21/13!
Who cares what picture we see?
Melinda Dillon does - as long as you've been a good little boy or girl - so on this Saturday closest to Christmas we'll pick this one...
This has become a perennial holiday flick - cable station TBS airs it for 24 straight hours every year now - that maybe you feel it's played out.
I don't. I think it's a marvellous movie - and I'll watch it with anyone - especially this time of year. I think it's on DVD in the video vault - but if I'm wrong and we can't watch it tonight - we can rain check until TBS flips the switch on it middle of next week!

Celebrity Endorsement: Ron Chaney!
He's the great-grandson of the Man of 1000 Faces; he's the grandson of the only actor to play The Wolfman, Dracula, The Mummy, and Frankenstein's Monster -
He's Ron Chaney, pictured here surrounded by Chaney family memorabilia at a convention. Mr. Chaney is keeping his family's legacy alive - and I'm pleased he took a moment to voice his thoughts on good blogging:
Thanks Mr. Chaney!

Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #146!
The Dead One (Mardi Gras Productions, 1962)
This appear to be a serious old school voodoo/zombie movie from director Barry Mahon - better known for nudie cutie movies like The Beast That Killed Women. It was also apparently very hard to find before a print turned up for a DVD release. I would love to see it!
Blood Alley (Warner Bros., 1955)
I haven't seen this action flick with the Duke - but I'm sure I will one of these days! And doesn't Lauren Bacall look vaguely like Princess Leia here?
The Dorm That Dripped Blood (New Image, 1982)
This is a low budget slasher flick from near the end of the cycle started with Halloween...I'm pretty fond of it - even though I'm the first to admit it's no classic.

Saturday Night at the Movies 12/14/13!
Who cares what picture we see?
I have to believe Tracie Savage does - so on this day after a Friday the 13th - it's time to go for more of the same, only deeper...
It's one of my favorites in the series - but you probably already knew that. That's a really great trailer too - all the Jason's woods stuff and that final printed bit about joining him there on Friday August 13th - so very cool!
I have the movie on DVD in 2D and red/blue 3D - I'm holding off on a Blu-Ray upgrade until they remaster the thing with non-red/blue 3D. In any case, we could get either one of the DVD versions spinning in moments - if you wanted to come by and see it with me - even tonight!

Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #145!
The Thing with Two Heads (American International Pictures, 1972)
This flick knows precisely how silly it is from the word go - and plays it well - with the tongue firmly in the cheek throughout. The whole story is layed out in that blue box up top, and Grier and Milland work well not working well together - plus Chelsea Brown is both funny and beautiful as Rosey's lady.
Flaming Passion (Warner Bros., 1923)
I think this silent melodrama got re-released in the crazy cautionary 30's as one of those expose' movies like Reefer Madness or Cocaine Fiends. Imagine going to see what you think is going to debauchery a go go - and it turns out to be a ten year old silent movie! Ha!
The Harder They Come (New World Pictures, 1973)
Made in Jamiaca in 1972, this rough and raw indie flick casts reggae legend Jimmy Cliff as a young man trying to make it in the music business in Jamaica and falling into a life of crime. It's fairly essential cinema - especially for film buffs and fans of reggae music.

Saturday Night at the Movies 12/7/13!
Who cares what picture we see?
Frank Collison might not, actually, but we'll pick this one anyway - and this one has a couple of salty language moments - NSFW...
One of the cool movies to come flying out of the early days of Full Moon - when they were releasing a movie every MONTH.
I think I may have commented here at one time about the period when I was getting Full Moon screener tapes because I'd led them to believe I was a buyer for the small video store chain I worked for.
Well, when they sent Dollman as a screener there was a little something...unusual...about it. I watched the movie and enjoyed the low budget thrills - but man the special effects were AWFUL. Months later, with the screener packed away somewhere I convinced some friends to rent a copy and watch it to see the horrible special effects.
SURPRISE!
The effects in the rental tape were fine! Low budget, certainly, but they looked pretty danged good! Turns out - the Dollman screener was sent out on such a short turnaround that they had to go with unfinished and what appeared to be test special effects shots! There was no explanation of this on the screener box or anything - and it seems pretty wild to think the company would send out the movie in a pretty unappealing way when that screener is supposed to be convincing you to load up on copies for your video store!
Having seen Dollman in its intended and completed form I found it a tasty little low budget comic book flick. I still have that screener tape somewhere - I wonder if it's worth anything for the curiosity value alone?
I own this one on DVD now - and we could be checking it out in its more complete form any time - even tonight - if you wanted to come by!

Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #144!
Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS (Cambist Films, 1975)
A particularly grimy sub genre of grindhouse cinema - Nazisploitation - and one of the most well known titles! Dyanne Thorne gained much notoriety from her starring role! This is one I have not seen! This poster was featured in an earlier MMPM post - but here it's teamed up with its sequels for a Theme Week!
Ilsa, Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks (Cambist Films, 1976)
The filmmakers throw any vestiges of realism to the winds by setting this sequel in the then present day mid 1970's with Ilsa not looking any more than a year older as she now works out of the Middle East! Haven't seen this one either!
Ilsa, The Tigress of Siberia (New World Pictures, 1978)
The last official sequel puts Ilsa in the hands of other filmmakers - and this time they back up to 1953 to start their story, then bring it forward to 1977 - again without Ilsa noticeably aging. Dyanne Thorne made another women in prison movie in 1977 for director Jess Franco - The Wicked Warden - but it's not really an Ilsa movie - it just got that title slapped on it sometimes. This completes my hat trick of not having seen these movies.
