We damn well know Howard Sherman does - since he's actually endorsed this blog! So here's what it's gotta be:
I love Romero zombies! I'm still catching up on his recent efforts - but the first three are terrific flicks.
This third go-round in the first trilogy was not exactly the movie he'd planned to make due to budget issues (I don't know if there's a script for the movie he originally conceived, but boy would I like to read it!) but George Romero made do - and the movie turned out just fine in my opinion!
I have this one on a Blu-Ray I haven't even put in the machine yet - so if you'd like to join me for the initial viewing - even tonight - you merely need to come on by!
Until next post, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!
Hilarious! I don't know if there is even such a thing as a "serious" zombie movie. LOL.
ReplyDeleteDay of the Dead is pretty dark (tone, not lighting...though...it DOES take place mostly in a cave...) after the comic book excesses of Dawn.
DeleteGood one. Not as great as Night and Dawn, but definitely an impressive and very clever zombie-shocker.
ReplyDeleteI used to find it the least of the original trilogy - but it's edging up on Dawn for me now. The Blu-Ray is gorgeous.
DeleteThose movies set the standard for zombie movies. What a matter craftsman. Wouldn't the Blu-Ray transfer be muddy? I can't imagine those movies in Hi-def.
ReplyDeleteThe Blu-Ray is a gorgeous transfer. Maybe not reference quality - but really crystal clear and just pristine. Worth a re-buy for the upgrade for sure.
DeleteI refuse to buy Blu-Ray. I had a player and did not like it at all, so I took it back to the store. DVD is just fine for me as well as VHS.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I really like this one a lot. Romero is one of my faves.
Do you have a super hi-def TV - because if not - then Blu-Ray wouldn't be worth it.
DeleteYeah, Romero Rocks!
OMG! That Trailer! I remember seeing that online and I was like "I got to see this movie!" and then my dad came home that night with a copy of it for me. True Story!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's so cool, Kai! My dad has done a lot of great things for me - but not once has he ever brought home a zombie movie for me!
ReplyDeletemy dad's cool like that, He's the first to introduce me to Freddy Krueger and The first Evil Dead movie. He doesn't understand horror but he acknowledges my love for the genre.
