A-Z Challenge 2012: M is for Maniac Cop!

As we close out the second week and the halfway point in the April 2012 A-Z Blogging Challenge - we come again to the weekly post where we take a look at those powerful promotional tools - the movie trailer, and the movie poster for some cool flick that I have in the video vault. And tonight it's going to be a monstrous, massive, and murderous:

Saturday Night at the Movies 4/14/12!

Who cares what picture we see?

If you would have asked me yesterday, I would have told you Sheree North does. And today - the same answer - so this is the choice:

M is for Maniac Cop!

I loved this movie from my first viewing on VHS back in the late 80's. It's a crazy good cast in front of the camera - look at the credits on the poster - and a powerhouse duo behind the camera: writer/producer Larry Cohen (It's Alive) and director William Lustig (Hit List). It's horror and action all mixed together into an entertaining B-movie stew which remains one of my favorites.

Surprise! We're not stopping with just this movie - oh no - after all, the filmmakers didn't, so let's go for a special:

Saturday Night at the Movies Triple Feature!

Go refill your drink, or get some more popcorn, then hurry back for the second feature...wonder what it could be?

Taking the sequel even further into the action movie arena - but still with strong horror movie overtones - this is a corker Part 2 that I'm also very fond of.

One more brief intermission - then we'll start our last feature for tonight...

I hope you got yourself a treat...here we go...

This last sequel in the series - so far - there's been noise of a part 4 the last couple of years - doesn't get a lot of love. Admittedly I haven't seen it in a while - but I seem to remember liking it a whole lot too.

In any case, all three movies do reside in the video vault - the original on Blu-Ray, and the sequels on their native VHS - and we could get all three watched tonight - if you come over, that is.

Come back Monday N we'll do it again with a new post - until then you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

  1. Absolutely hilarious horror franchise featuring one of the oddest characters in horror history. Wasn't a big fan of Part 2, but I highly enjoyed 1 and 3.

oh btw, I just gave you an award :)

    1. Wow! Thanks for the award! That's so awesome! I luckily have Sundays free during this blogfest - so I'll jump on that tonight!

And glad you like the MC movies - well, most of them, anyway! ;)

  2. What a hysterical series! I am not a horror fan, so I wouldn't know how to rate it in my opinion : )

    1. I think this series is only for those steeped in horror movies - so it might be a safe miss for you - but thanks for coming by! Cheers!

  3. The first thought that came to mind while watching the movie trailer for the first Mania Cop was "what's up with that dude's ears?" LOL. Still, I liked the trailer better than the movie poster. The hand holding the badge is just so out of place...or rather out of proportion as it relates to everything else that is going on in the design. Just a NO-NO in my book.

I like the poster for Mania Cop 2, the best, among all of the three movies features in this post. I doubt that I'd watch any of them though...unless I have to for research one day...maybe.

    Cheers!

    1. Cheers right back at you - thanks for the interesting comment! And that hand does look off - though a twelve minute examination of my own hands showed me that it is ostensibly correct - but it still does look weird.
