Mass media musings and pop culture nonsense filtered through the brainpan of yours truly, with a special focus on the line of dialogue most used in film!
Tom Morga would, I have to think. So this will be the choice for this evening...
One of my favorite movie series - as anyone who's read more than two posts at this blog surely knows - but not one of my favorite entries in the series. That it is flanked by two of the best - The Final Chapter and Jason Lives - does not help its case.
But it is a Friday the 13th movie from dead smack in the middle of the 80's and as such is always worth a look - and I have it on multiple discs so we could get one spinning pretty quickly any time - even this very evening - if you felt like braving the night to come see me!

Steven Berkoff would, in a slightly over the top way, so considering what I'm up to this weekend, let's go with this one...
The thirteenth 007 movie proved to be another lucky strike by the Bond producers, outgrossing the rival Sean Connery Bond movie - Never Say Never Again - which came out a few months after this one.
Taking the title from a short story by Ian Fleming, and weaving the short story in to this plot, this Bond flick takes an "everything but the kitchen sink" approach and it works. Villain Louis Jourdan is fine, and it's nice to see Maud Adams back after her turn in a different role in The Man with the Golden Gun nine years previously.
This Bond flick is unspooling as a part of Crazy Movie Weekend: Bonding with 007 Part 2 - on a fine Blu-Ray - and you can come watch it with us - if you feel like joining us!

I've been enjoying Tom Atkins since he started showing up in John Carpenter movies like The Fog and Escape from New York. He's been in scads of stuff since...and is still going strong.
The man, the legend.
Wanting to be thrilled in Night of the Creeps.
Father of the Year in Creepshow.
"SHUT IT OFF!!!" Halloween III.
And another thing about Tom Atkins - he knows good pop culture blogging when he sees it...
Thanks, Mr. Atkins!

Jeroen Krabbe might on an alternate Tuesday, so for that and a couple of other reasons - let's pick this one...
This is a pretty good action thriller from the mid 80's It's no gem, but it's well made and now for me has two things going for it that put it past the entertainment finish line: first: the movie was mostly shot here in Wilmington NC - partially on the backlot set built as Chinatown for Year of the Dragon - and second: bad guy Jeroen Krabbe a year before he played Koskov in The Living Daylights.
I just picked this up in anamorphic widescreen in a used DVD set - which will make it my first viewing in its proper aspect ratio. If you'd also like to see it with me with a lot less pan and almost no scan - come on by - even this very evening!

Lance Henriksen would, dammit, so this is tonight's choice...
An early effort from Charles Band - but he's just the producer here - direction is from actor Michael Pataki (Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins). Old time Hollywood stars Richard Basehart and Gloria Grahame go slumming in this grindhouse flick about a mad doctor (Basehart) scooping out the eyes of unwilling live donors to help his blind daughter see again.
I have never actually seen this one, but thanks to this blog's buddy Eric Spudic (see an interview with Eric HERE) - the movie is now in the video vault on a fine DVD. We can be wincing from the eye violence any time - even tonight - if you can see your way clear to come over!
