Who cares what picture we see?



Elisha Cook Jr - you just know he does. So this is the choice for this evening:

The early 70's produced some fun vampire flicks - this, the Count Yorga movies - the last couple of Hammer Draculas. Sure - the 70's trappings make it a little silly these days - as does the whole Blacula name - but past that this is an entertaining movie with some scary moments.

And you know - it did well at the theaters - so well you know they had to make another one - so let's just go right ahead on and make this a...

I've not actually seen this sequel - but the fine folks at MGM have done me a righteous and put the movie on the same DVD with the original - so we are all that much more set to watch this duo at any time - even tonight - if you don't fear "Dracula's Soul Brother" in the night and want to come by,,,

Saturday Night at the Movies 5/24/14!

Who cares what picture we see?


I gots to know if Albert Popwell does...so while I check this is the pick for tonight...

I first saw this one on VHS - and even smooshed into a pan and scan horror - the gritty brilliance of Don Siegel's cop drama still shone through. Taking the real life Zodiac Killer and morphing him into Scorpio (Andy Robinson) - then pitting him against world weary Harry Callahan - sheer bliss for an action junkie.



I have this one ready to spin on a correctly ratio-ed disc - and we could be counting Harry's shots any time - even tonight...if you feel lucky...well, do ya?

Lightning Bolt  (Woolner Brothers Pictures Inc, 1967)

Good ol' Anthony Eisley (Dracula vs Frankenstein) stars in this Italian James Bond knockoff. Any part of that sentence reveals my desire to see this movie!













Chainsaw Sally  (Forbidden Pictures, 2004)

You know a movie's got its heart in the right place when they get Gunnar Hansen to cameo and hand him a chainsaw. And you have added bonus Herschell Gordon Lewis! I want to check this one out!













Dracula's Daughter  (Universal Studios, 1936)

Okay - I've seen this one at least! Universal Studios Monsters FTW! This turned out to be a pretty cool follow up to Dracula. So did the later Son of Dracula as well.

Saturday Night at the Movies 5/17/14!

Who cares what picture we see?



I have to admit the odds are Steven Seagal doesn't - but we're going with this one anyway...

I know. I know. It's one of his 21st century movies - where he's only present for the medium close up and close ups. I know he's no longer the striking snake of old but instead a lumbering bear assisted by the editors in appearing to achieve some percentage of his original speed. But I still like Steven Seagal - so there you go.



It's on DVD - and we can be stop watching his actual screen time whenever you'd like to come over - even tonight!
