John David Carson doesn't, unfortunately - but we're still going to pick this one...
Bert I. Gordon is one of my favorite genre filmmakers - he cranked out a pile of science fiction movies from the 50's through the 70's where something was not the right size. From miniature people to giant bugs - here was a filmmaker who lived up to his initials!
Empire of the Ants is pressed onto a swell MGM DVD in the video vault, and we could be marvelling at what managed to squeak in as special effects the same year Star Wars came out - anytime - even tonight, if you wanted to come over!
Until next post, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!
Mr. BIG was a fun filmmaker, but... one of your favorites? How often can one watch Manitou without getting completely mad? ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh btw, I think you have a HTML problem, especially because as of lately, your line spacings get larger and larger.
He is one of my faves - The Spider, The Amazing Colossal Man, Attack of the Puppet People, Village of the Giants, Food of the Gods, The Cyclops, War of the Colossal Beast - all fun flicks! (The Manitou was directed by one of your least faves - William Girdler)
DeleteI am the cause of that strange spacing - trying to keep the words spread out so they're not too bunched up - and out of control in this post - will work on that when I add the poster. Thanks for the heads up!
I only picked this film up recently - for a euro on DVD. I've never seen it, but I too like Gordon. This one looks like a hoot!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how much a euro is worth over here - and I'm too lazy to look it up - but a bargain is a bargain. I truly hope we'll see a post on this at The Nostalgic Attic when you watch it!
