Celebrity Endorsement: Ted White!

He's one of my very favorite Jasons from the Friday the 13th series -

He's also a very nice man who's had a helluva career - and even in his late 80's he still walks tall with a twinkle in his eye - and he knows good blogging when he sees it...

I don't think he was kidding, Kane Hodder! Ha! Thanks, Mr. White!

Celebrity Endorsement: Kane Hodder!

He's been a stuntman and actor for four decades - and he logged another important four in his career - he played Jason Voorhees four times - more than anyone else ever has - and most likely ever will.

He's also very into his job - and he also enjoys a good pop culture blog now and again...

Thanks Mr. Hodder! I'll buy you a Shock Top next time I see you!

Celebrity Endorsement: Bill Moseley!

I first encountered Bill Moseley in a darkened movie theater when he played THIS guy:

I thought he was a marvelous addition to the Sawyer family in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 - and I've enjoyed his work in scads of movies since then.

Thankfully, in addition to being a fine actor - Bill Moseley also knows good blogging when he sees it:

Thanks a lot, Mr. Moseley!

Celebrity Endorsement: Vic Armstrong!

He's a hell of a stuntman - in his early days one of the guys sliding down the ropes into the volcano base in You Only Live Twice -

Vic Armstrong is in there somewhere!

He doubled Roger Moore during his Bond tenure. He handled some of Superman's biggest stunts for Christopher Reeve. He was such a good double for Harrison Ford in the Indiana Jones movies people would mix them up on set.

That's Vic on the left. Er, right.

Since then he's coordinated the stunt teams for big movies; and moved in to directing - both second unit and stunts, and feature films like Army of One with Dolph Lundgren.

Vic worked on three of the four Pierce Brosnan 007 movies.

I got to work directly for him when he directed second unit for the George Lucas production Radioland Murders - and when I met him at a show twenty years later - Mr. Armstrong remembered me! (The 87,000 James Bond questions I asked him on set back then may have helped his memory...)

One other thing: Vic Armstrong knows good blogging when he sees it too.

Thank you Mr. Armstrong!

Celebrity Endorsement: Linnea Quigley!

I actually posted this video previously in a Linnea-centric post during 2013's A-Z Challenge. But, I wouldn't want someone who is specifically checking out my celebrity endorsement posts to miss it - so it's getting the deluxe treatment for this go-round!

And of course, Linnea Quigley needs no introduction around these parts! The woman is incredible - and has made bad movies watchable, and good movies better.

Amelia Kinkade played Angela in Kevin Tenney's Night of the Demons. It was her party, and you could cry if you wanted to - and you would... oh yes you would...

Now Amelia Kinkade is an author as well as an actress, and she knows how to make the plug while pointing out good blogging...

Looking fabulous, Ms. Kinkade - and thank you!

If you'd like to read Amelia's book - you can get it from Amazon here.

Celebrity Endorsement: Ron Chaney!

He's the great-grandson of the Man of 1000 Faces; he's the grandson of the only actor to play The Wolfman, Dracula, The Mummy, and Frankenstein's Monster -

He's Ron Chaney, pictured here surrounded by Chaney family memorabilia at a convention. Mr. Chaney is keeping his family's legacy alive - and I'm pleased he took a moment to voice his thoughts on good blogging:

Thanks Mr. Chaney!

Celebrity Endorsement: Peter Jason!

Here's a guy with over 200 acting credits to his name - as perfect an example of "oh, that guy!" as ever there was. His name may or may not be known to you - but you're bound to have seen him in something - Heartbreak Ridge, Arachnophobia, Dreamscape, The Karate Kid - or dozens of  other movies - plus he's been a guest star on seemingly every TV show from the 80's or 90's.

He's also worked several times with a certain director - but I'll let him tell you about that - and his good taste in movie blogs:

Thank you Mr. Jason!

I think?

Celebrity Endorsement: Tyler Mane!

Tyler Mane

I generally won't tell you any tall tales - but you kinda can't help it with this guy. No, I don't mean stories that stretch the truth. We're talking height here. I risked a nosebleed for this one - but you all need to know that my Mane man likes a good blog...and that's what I'm here to Tyler....

The first celebrity we met at the Mad Monster Party - and one of the nicest.

Thank you Tyler Mane!

Celebrity Endorsement: David Naughton!

Oh sure, he's a Pepper, but then you're a Pepper and I'm a Pepper too!

He's had his head served in a giant waffle cone by Clint Howard...he's had his disco song Makin' It goofed on in the movie Detroit Rock City...and he did sing and dance shilling for Dr. Pepper back in the day -

But most importantly, he's also our first, last, and only American Werewolf in London - and while the Bad Moon may be Rising, the Good Blogging has been Spotted!

Thank you David Naughton!

A-Z Challenge 2013: Q is for Linnea Quigley!

It's the seventeenth post in this challenge - and I'm not sure there's anything funny to say about that - so bugger it - let's just get to it!

Q is for Linnea Quigley!

I first encountered Linnea Quigley in the late 70’s when the movie Fairy Tales played on the Showtime cable network, At the time – as I was about to enter puberty – I only had one requirement for movies like this – as much nudity as possible. Fairy Tales – a bawdy retelling of various bedtime stories – certainly fit the bill. Now, I didn’t know who Linnea Quigley was at the time – but my viewing of that movie has stuck in my mind for more than thirty years, so it definitely was my first time seeing her in a movie!

Born in Davenport Iowa in the late 50’s, Linnea Quigley moved to Los Angeles in the mid 70’s and quickly broke in to low budget filmmaking as an actress. Her first film was Psycho from Texas, in which she played a barmaid. She went on to small roles in movies like Deathsport, Don’t Go Near the Park, the aforementioned Fairy Tales, Stone Cold Dead, Graduation Day, Cheech & Chong’s Nice Dreams, and Get Crazy. She moved up to supporting roles in The Young Warriors, Savage Streets, and Silent Night Deadly Night. Then came Return of the Living Dead. Quigley’s performance in writer/director Dan O’Bannon’s spinoff sequel to George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead made her a B Movie star.

Trash. No, that's her name. I totally dig the look!

In the film, Linnea plays "Trash," a badass punk chick with an interesting outlook on life...and death...

Right after her little "worst way to DIE" speech - Trash jumps up on a nearby gravestone and does an incredible nude dance. And a little after that - well, I don't want to give anything away about this zombie movie - but her worst nightmare comes true.

But it is a zombie movie, so this doesn't end her time in the movie. Trash rocks this very entertaining zombie flick - and back in the midwest I know for sure of one teen who developed quite the crush on Ms. Quigley.

She moved on to some softcore T+A flicks, then worked for director David DeCoteau in Creepozoids. They worked well together, and started to work together often as Linnea took on the title of 80’s Scream Queen – along with her frequent co-stars Michelle Bauer and Brinke Stevens – they memorably teamed up for Nightmare Sisters for director DeCoteau. Linnea ran with the Scream Queen title – appearing in dozens of horror films over the next several years. She also managed her own Horror Workout tape - just about to debut on DVD!

A smattering of her movie titles from across her career include Treasure of the Moon Goddess; Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama; Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers; Blood Nasty; Night of the Demons; Assault of the Party Nerds; Vice Academy; Robot Ninja; Beach Babes from Beyond; Burial of the Rats; Jack-O; Horrorvision; Zombiegeddon; and Vampitheater. That's 14 titles from a listed 121 (!) over at the IMDB!

She’s a very appealing presence in all of her films – sometimes playing a quiet introvert but more often playing wild and crazy characters – which is all the more fun due to her tiny size (5’2’’) and willingness to take it all off. I’ve always enjoyed seeing her pop up (and pop out) in anything I’m watching – and I’m looking forward to seeing her reunited with Bauer and Stevens in DeCoteau’s 1313: Cougar Cult – though Linnea herself warned me the movie isn’t much.

Linnea Quigley. Michelle Bauer. Brinke Stevens.
Back in the day.

Stevens, Quigley, and Bauer back together in recent times.

Speaking of her warning – we met recently at a horror convention – and I’m delighted to report that Ms. Quigley is a wonderfully warm and friendly presence in person. I’m also doubly delighted to let you know what she has a sharp eye for good blogging – as you’ll see in this clip:

Linnea and Craig - friends to the end.

“R” you ready to come back tomorrow for some more? Please do, and until then you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

Celebrity Endorsement: Howard Sherman!

When someone asks "what's all the hubbub, Bub?" I always get a little nervous - worried they might be speaking to Bub the Lovable Zombie from George Romero's Day of the Dead - because no matter how lovable he might be in name - I don't want to run in to him anywhere!

However, the actor who played him in the movie? Howard Sherman?

Well, he's swell. And he knows good blogging when he sees it.

Thank you Mr. Sherman!
