Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #152!

The Big Switch  (Miracle Films, 1968)

I haven't seen this drama about blackmail and pornography - but Pete Walker is always a safe bet for tawdry fun!

Super Stooges vs The Wonder Women  (American-International Pictures, 1975)

Yep, I'm with you. WTH?!?! Must see!

The Dirty Game  (American-International Pictures, 1965)

An espionage anthology, with three short spy tales wrapped into one Bondish package. I haven't seen it - but 007's first director Terence Young is at the helm for the British segment - so I definitely want to!

Saturday Night at the Movies 1/25/14!

Who cares what picture we see?

Julian McMahon totally does - so we're picking this one...

I like shark movies. And I like movies that plausibly mix one enviroment into another to the jeopardy of the people involved. So consequently I had a good time with this flick. It's not the end-all-be-all of cinema - but it kills an hour and a half pretty painlessly.

I added this one to the video vault on Blu-Ray - sadly, we can't watch the 3-D version included at the moment - but maybe one of these days...

Meanwhile we can certainly check out the 2-D Blu-Ray - even tonight - if you care to come over and watch it with me!

Celebrity Endorsement: Amelia Kinkade!

Amelia Kinkade played Angela in Kevin Tenney's Night of the Demons. It was her party, and you could cry if you wanted to - and you would... oh yes you would...

Now Amelia Kinkade is an author as well as an actress, and she knows how to make the plug while pointing out good blogging...

Looking fabulous, Ms. Kinkade - and thank you!

If you'd like to read Amelia's book - you can get it from Amazon here.

Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #151!

Mama's Dirty Girls  (Premiere Releasing Corporation, 1974)

Any movie with that title, Sondra Currie, and Candice Rialson? TOTALLY want to see it!

The Dragon Strikes Back  (aka Shanghai Joe)  (Beacon Films Inc, 1976)

This Italian (!) martial arts flick was made in 1973 when it played under the Shanghai Joe title in foreign lands. Three years later it was brought to America and slapped with this title for a run in our grindhouses and drive-ins. I haven't seen it - but with that cast I'd be all over it!

The Beast with Five Fingers  (Warner Bros., 1946)

This one I've seen! Pretty cool little suspenser with a dead pianist seemingly committing murders from beyond the grave - directing his own severed hand to throttle his victims!

Saturday Night at the Movies 1/18/14!

Who cares what picture we see?

I have heard through the grapevine that Shannon Tweed really might...so let's pick this one tonight...

The 80's were a prime time for raunchy R rated comedies with smartass leading men - here's a fine example from 1984 - David Naughton gets to be pretty obnoxious off the slopes, and his skiing double gets to be pretty amazing on the slopes as he chases Tracy Smith and Shannon Tweed all over the mountain.

I just added this one to the video vault on a four pack with three other movies from this genre and decade - and we could be staying warm watching this one any time - even this every evening - if you felt like coming over!

Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #150!

King Kong Escapes  (Universal International, 1967)
More fun from Toho and Rankin/Bass, with their silly looking Kong up against the wonderfully goofy Mecha-Kong - and the villain is Dr. Who! Plus you got yer Rhodes Reason starring!

Rambo: First Blood Part II  (Tri-Star Pictures, 1985)

I love the Rambo movies - and this sequel gives us Stallone and Crenna back again - this time supported by Charles Napier and Steven Berkoff!

City of the Walking Dead  (21st Century Film Corporation, 1983)

Not a spin-off from the hit AMC series, but an Italian flick shot in 1980 and released here three years later - and featuring creatures that - like 28 Days Later - are technically still alive and run! It's still a zombie movie to me though!

Saturday Night at the Movies 1/11/14!

Who cares what picture we see?

Joan Collins might - if you play your cards right - in the meantime - we'll go with this one:

A terrifically fun horror anthology based on the old EC comic books decades before the HBO series, this movie was made in England and serves up five tales of terror with the usual grisly EC humor - though none from the Crypt Keeper - here played by Sir Ralph Richardson in a pretty mundane way. Still in all an entertaining flick.

Its success led to a sequel - so why don't we go ahead and make this post 2014's first

Saturday Night at the Movies Double Feature!

Next up - from the next year -

I

A second set of five creepy stories - again taken from 1950's EC comics. Another corker cast makes this an equally entertaining scarepic.

Both movies reside on one flipper DVD in the video vault - so we could be watching flipping and watching both movies any time - even this very night - if you felt like coming by!

Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #149!

Let's go Theme Week, and let's make it a Malibu Maniacal Movie Poster Monday!

Malibu Beach  (Crown International Pictures, 1978)

I have very fond memories of watching this one on Showtime back in my misspent youth - it's a sorta sequel to The Van (1977) with a crossover character - the mighty Dugan (Stephen Oliver).

The Malibu Bikini Shop  (International Cinema, 1986)

This one is a very pleasing T+A romp with a young Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek Into Darkness) co-starring.

Malibu High  (Crown International Pictures, 1979)

This looks a lot like the other two posters, doesn't it? Another sorta innocuous beach romp with boobies, right? Well, no - Crown International really tried to pull a fast one here - this is one of their weirdest and sleaziest flicks - and brother, that's saying something right there! Kim (one time actress Jill Lansing - not the grinning chickie on the poster) is an unlikable lout who mopes through life screaming at her mother and wanting more money. So first she starts turning tricks for some extra cash; then starts seducing her male teachers for better grades, then somehow makes the jump from there to mob hit girl (!) Watch and be boggled - especially with music cues from SCTV and The People's Court thrown in for extra WTF-ness!

Saturday Night at the Movies 1/4/14!

Who cares what picture we see?

My wife certainly does - and I was thrilled to find this movie under the Christmas tree...

The original flick - which inspired Quentin Tarantino to make his excellent spaghetti western pastiche Django Unchained - is a fine example of that well populated genre. Nero is a cool character, and he's well supported by a fine cast of dubbed Europeans.

The movie is on a Blu-Ray disc - I'm hoping the transfer is extraordinary - if you want to come over we could be taking a look at it anytime - even tonight!
