Saturday Night at the Movies 12/29/12!

Who cares what picture we see?

Alan Cumming might not, in all honesty - but to close out this 50th anniversary year for James Bond in the cinema - we're going with this one:

It seemed like an eternity since we'd had a James Bond movie in those dark years after Licence to Kill was released in the summer of 1989. Finally, near the end of 1995 - 007 was back in action! I couldn't have been happier. Pierce Brosnan took on the role and did a fine job as the fifth official James Bond.

Let's wrap up our year-long jump onto the Bond Wagon with this little trailer promoting the Bond 50 Blu-Ray set - but serving as a fine overview of the 50 years of 007:

Tasty.

GoldenEye is of course in the video vault as a part of that selfsame Bond 50 set - so it is ready to watch anytime - even tonight - if you wanted to make it a 007 night!

Until next post, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

  1. One of two Bond flicks I've seen at the theater (the other one is Tomorrow Never Dies):
Loved it. Even bought the N64 game and played it like crazy back then :)

    1. I'm surprised you've only seen two 007 flicks in the theater - but you picked two good ones! I LOVED the N64 game - we used to play it around my place a LOT - the 4 player mode was like a party in a cartridge around here!

  2. Craig: Fantastic video! Huge fan of Bond and VERY IMPPRESSED with Skyfall. One of the best Bond flicks in recent years, imo.

    1. OMG!!!! As I live and breathe! Luana! SO great to see you! And my blogroll is showing you've revived at least one of your blogs from hibernation! THRILLED! As you know my Bond fan-ism knows no bounds. I loved Skyfall - and if you want to know more of my thoughts about it the review is back in November's list...heading over to the Skating Buffalo now!

  3. Golden Eye was awesome and it was Pierce doing the role he was meant to at last. Didn't Remington Steele commitments keep him from doing Bond at the time Dalton was picked? I thought I remember reading something about that. And Dame Judi burst onto the scene as M. Hell to the Yeah! So many great actors in this... Famke before Jean Gray, Sean Bean, my lovely Boromir and the stupendous Alan Cumming, one of my very favorite actors.

    1. You are right about Remington Steele kiboshing Pierce in 1986 - but honestly - he would have been too young. And I like Dalton - so in the end I'm glad they waited to hire him - he was perfect for the role in 1995 - and for the next seven years after that. You're right - this 007 flick does have a hell of a cast! In addition to those talents you listed - you get Robbie Coltrane, Joe Don Baker, and the always amazing Desmond Llewelyn in there too!
