Crazy Movie Weekend - Friday/Freddy: 30 Years of Dead Teens!

There have been three previous Crazy Movie Weekends - which consist of as many movies as my attendees and I can cram in to a weekend starting Friday night and ending Sunday afternoon whenever someone finally begs for mercy.

And now, Memorial Day Weekend 2012 - we did the extra long, four day Crazy Movie Weekend: Friday/Freddy - 30 Years of Dead Teens! Every Jason and Freddy movie from Friday the 13th (1980) through A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) - however, we went out of chronological order to let the titans clash in Freddy vs Jason for our big finale.

We also kept a running bodycount competition going, which I dutifully recorded into photographs at the completion of every movie.

Best of all, I managed to call on a chum to send us off on this crazy mission in grand style - check out this audio clip I played before the start of the first movie...

Okay, how awesome was that? A horror icon - the Ultimate Final Girl - giving this Crazy Movie Weekend the most amazing introduction EVER!

After that it was movie after movie after movie...and the pictures started appearing...

Friday night we worked our way through -

Friday the 13th (1980) -

I like to include some of the foods we partake of in the background of some of the pix...and that's a very cool
Jason doll that Ray gave me - it even "ki-ki-ki-ma-ma-ma's" when you push his chest!

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) -

Friday the 13th Part 2 -

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge -

We wrapped it up Friday night about 2:30am.

Saturday morning we kicked off with -

Friday the 13th Part 3 - (Not in 3-D as my movie buds nephew James and niece Sandra have a headache aversion to red/blue 3-D)

He didn't watch the movies. Well some of them, anyway.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter -  (doubling up some Jason because of more movies)

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors -

Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning -

Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives! -

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master -

Obviously not plagued by nightmares...

And that sent us to bed Saturday night. It was after 2:00am.

Sunday morning - off we went again!

Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood -

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child -

More food fun - some tasty wings!

Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan -

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare -

Now, the DVD for this one also includes the original ending sequence - which was in red/blue 3-D - and we did check this one out with the glasses on:

And it was actually really good 3-D - possibly better than it was in the theater in 1991!

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday -

Wes Craven's New Nightmare -

Which brought us to our ending for Sunday. Everybody was bushed, so it was our early evening just after 1:00am.

Monday morning - we started the final run:

Jason X -

Jason causes the destruction of a space station in this one - and the dialogue mentions
60 space marines aboard, but nothing else about the crew. I surmised 100 crew in addition
to those 60 space marines, giving ol' Hockey Mask a kill count of 181 for this one movie!

A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) -

Friday the 13th (2009) -

And lastly, the brawl for it all -

Freddy vs Jason -

This was meant to be a look of total surprise at the outcome. Instead I just look angry.
I have got to stop having plastic surgery.

I was truly surprised at the final numbers - I knew Jason was going to win; I just didn't realize by how much! Even if you dispute the space station from Jason X - Team Voorhees still almost reached 200 kills. And sure, you can say Freddy worked all alone, while Team Voorhees consisted of Pam, Alice, Jason, Vic, Roy, and that idiot on the cruise ship in part 8; but nonetheless, it's an impressive win!
Everybody who attended this CMW was a trouper - making it through as many of the movies as they could - but I do have to say - I'm the only one who watched every single one of them beginning to end! Because that's how I roll!

It was a hell of a weekend - starting off with that incredible recorded introduction - my neverending thanks to Adrienne King for providing it - and I hope we can do it again sometime!

Until next post, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

  1. Craig: That is so cool! What a fun weekend. I have a friend who is Lord of the Rings fanatic. She wanted us to watch all three movies in one sitting...about nine hours or something like that...she is so DIE HARD! Just like you. LOL.

    1. LOL - yeah, that series has been bandied about for a CMW - trouble is - not enough of it to fill a whole weekend! Maybe with the two Hobbit movies in a year or two...

  4. Wow! What an awesome Marathon. And extremely well-documented, my friend. I,too, am startled by the results...not so much the victor, but like you, the resounding margin. The Jason Legacy is a monopoly of terror I suppose. I'm curious what kind of marathon you are planning next??

    1. Well, we have had proposals for Roger Corman, Charles Band, ninja, Quentin Tarantino, exorcism, monkey movies, and dozens of others. I hope there might be another before then, but the next for-sure will be an attempt for CMW: Halloween Horrorfest II this October - which like last year's, will be a little more freeform in it's horror ramblin'...

  5. This is AWESOME!!! I knew Team Voorhees would own the body count. I mean I watch Freddy for his style and his wit. Jason is a machine, Freddy is finesse. Still I love both franchises and nothing will ever top them for me, though ol Mike certainly gives it a good try.

I love Adrienne's message Head Counselor Craig. That settles it, I am coming to you for a Fright Fest one Halloween.

    1. Yeah, it pretty much happened just like I imagined and hoped it would - we made it through all 20 movies, and nobody left mad. I love what you said - Jason is a machine, Freddy is finesse! Perfect! We actually left Mr. Myers out both because we had no more time for any more movies - but also because we did Halloween and Halloween II at the October CMW - and I plan to get a couple more in this October - because it's imperative to actually have a Halloween movie in a Halloween Horrorfest!

And you bet I was over the moon when Adrienne recorded that intro for me!
