Buddha Man, We Hardly Knew Ye!

Time for terse:

Buddha Man - December off - Christmas. Need replacement - running auditions. Everyone reviews Star Wars.

And here we go!

Who can we find for tonight's audition...digging deep again...ow! Paper cut! Dang it!

Okay, here's one. Hmmm. Okay, a fresh face. Let's see what he brings to the party.

Let's welcome Bling Monkey everybody! Hey Bling Monkey! The movie is Star Wars, from 1977. Good luck!

Star Wars  (20th Century Fox, 1977)  In May of 1977, George Lucas introduced the world to his "sprawling space saga of romance and rebellion" and changed the way movies were made, edited, scored, released, distributed, sequelized, merchandised and franchised forever. The movie starts off in the middle of a pitched space battle - in minutes we've met a space princess, a bad guy confident enough to wear black bad guy armor, and two funny robots (or "droids" as they're called here) and we've hardly had time to take a breath. Then the movie really gets going! Soon, young Luke Skywalker (naive, hot headed farmboy) is off on the adventure of his life, setting out with his new pals Obi Wan Kenobi (aging mentor), Han Solo (brash pilot), Chewbacca (large furry muscle/comedy relief) and the droids to save that princess (sassy, no-foundation-garments-wearing hottie) from a giant planet busting space station. The movie whips by like lightning, and although the original special effects are getting a mite not-so-state-of-the-art, they're still really cool. The movie has spawned five sequels and enough merchandising to reach from here to that galaxy far, far away. Writer/producer/director Lucas has been tinkering with this movie and the rest of the series for 33 years now, adding scenes, new special effects, and a wanker of a faked laser shot by an alien, (and he's still at it - currently slaving away ordering his minions to up-convert all six flicks to 3-D for another theatrical release and home video cash-in), but he can't stop this movie from being a charming throwback to the science fictions films of old, and it is one of the rare flicks that go beyond recommended and right to "must see". So stop reading anthopoidal movie review blog entries and go watch it!

Wow! Okay! That was...really good! Almost exactly what I would say!

Well, that's it then. A really good set of reviews from all the applicants! But it's time to make a decision. Will Buddha Man's temp replacement be:

I'm going to have to give this one some careful thought - tune in tomorrow for the exciting answer!

Til then, you Can Poke Me With A Fork, Cause I Am Outta Here!

  1. Much as I love Busey, Spidey, and Zombie finger guy, it appears that the monkey has the best prose style. Though I do miss the eye-candy pix...

Let's hear it for the monkey!
