Celebrity Endorsement: Heather Langenkamp!

Of course I first noticed her when she showed up as Freddy Krueger's dream girl in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street...

I loved it when she came back in the better sequels....

and I enjoyed her run in the ABC sitcom Just the Ten of Us....

....and I'm very pleased to report that Heather Langenkamp knows good pop culture blogging when she sees it...

Thanks, Ms. Langenkamp!

Saturday Night at the Movies 7/25/15!

Who cares what picture we see?

Vijay Amritraj most certainly would, so we will make this tonight's choice...

Oh man - 1985. Sho Kosugi. Ninjas. And a trailer narrator who says "neenja." It's on glorious VHS in the video vault, and we could be checking it out any time - even this very evening if you'd like to come watch it with me.

Saturday Night at the Movies 7/18/15!

Who cares what picture we see?

Robert Walden - not likely. However, we will pick this one for tonight...

One of writer/director Jeff Lieberman's always interesting thrillers, this one has people losing their minds - and their hair - ten years after dropping Blue Sunshine LSD in college. Zalman King, star of the infamous Trip with the Teacher and creator of The Red Shoe Diaries - plays the lead - who loses some friends to the initial outbreak of madness and eventually looks guilty to the police for subsequent deaths. The only way to clear himself is to figure it all out...

I first saw this one on Showtime in the early 80's - and I now have it on a fine special edition DVD - ready to spin any time - even this very evening - if you'd care to come by and check it out with me!

Saturday Night at the Movies 7/11/15!

Who cares what picture we see?

Amy Ryan really truly does. So, let's pick this one for tonight...

I have been amazed by the action flicks coming out from 80's action legends Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger since The Expendables - they've all been pretty damned good flicks - and these guys are in their late 60's!

I love team up movies, so this one was a lot of fun, though it's mostly Stallone's show with Arnie in support. This one is on Blu-Ray in the video vault and is ready to escape into the player any time - even tonight, if you care to escape your place and come watch it with me!

Maniacal Movie Poster Monday #219!

Theme week!

1 Movie, 3 Posters!

The Evil of Frankenstein  (Hammer Studios, 1964)

I think the first poster is my favorite - I like the longer shot of the creature - with the stylized stretching torso. Good stuff, though, all three posters are awesome!

Saturday Night at the Movies 7/4/15!

Who cares what picture we see?

Terry O'Quinn probably wouldn't - he'd prefer you go out and see a play - but we're still going with this one tonight...

This is a pretty cool 80's Stephen King flick - his only werewolf story - and it's even more cool that it was shot right here in Wilmington NC and I know people who worked on it.

It's not perfect - but it is entertaining - with a young Corey Haim and his uncle Gary Busey trying to figure out which of the local townspeople is getting hairy and scary each full moon...and since one key scene takes place on July 4th, a very appropriate choice for today!

It's on DVD ready to spin any time - even tonight - if you felt like venturing out under the light of the moon to come see it with me.
